The police have released details surrounding the murder of rapper Pop Smoke as they arrested five males, including two juveniles, who are allegedly members of a street gang.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the five suspects believed to be responsible for the killing of 20-year-old Bashar Barakah Jackson, also known as Pop Smoke, who died back in February, have been arrested.
According to the authorities, the suspects killed the young rapper in a home invasion after discovering the whereabouts of his rental home due to his social media posts.
“We believe that it was a robbery,” Captain Jonathan Tippet told the Associated Press. “Initially we didn’t really have the evidence but then we discovered some other evidence that showed this was likely a home invasion gone bad.”
As the police captain suggested, all five suspects are believed to be members of a Los Angeles street gang. Some of them have allegedly also been linked to the shooting that took place at Pasadena’s Rose Bowl back in 2019.
Smoke was fatally shot in his Hollywood Hills rental home on February 19. According to the investigators, the evidence suggests that the suspects robbed the rapper’s home after forcing their way in at around 4 in the morning.
Pop Smoke rose to fame following his ‘Welcome to the Party’ lead single and ‘Meet the Woo’ debut mixtape in 2019. Soon enough, the rapper also released popular hits such as Dior and Gatti.
