A loving sister has become a surrogate mother after offering to carry her brother’s baby because he and his partner didn’t trust a stranger to carry their baby.
27-year-old Chapelle Cooper from Dalton, England, got pregnant with her brother’s child after her egg was fertilized by Michael Smith, her brother’s boyfriend.
Scott Stephenson couldn’t be any happier after his sister agreed to carry his and his partner’s baby.
“We are blown away by the strength, heart, and courage of Chapelle and will never be able to truly thank her for bringing us our perfect little bundle. We love you more than you know!” Scott and Michael wrote on Facebook, thanking Chapelle, who is now officially a biological mother and an auntie, for carrying their child.
Speaking of the decision to aid her brother and his partner in getting a baby, Chapelle said:
“Scott and Michael were both talking about adoption and we discovered there was so many different obstacles to go through.
“Surrogacy was brought up, but there was the issue of trusting someone to do it, and it was very expensive too.”
Michael, whose “dream come true” after getting a baby of his own, added:
“We weren’t going to be controlling about her diet and tell her what she could and couldn’t do, but we are control freaks by nature. We found ourselves really protective of her throughout the pregnancy.”
While little Harper Elizabeth is no longer in Chapelle’s arms because she took off to live with her dads, the family knows that her biological mother will always play an important role in the girl’s life.
“I’m still going to be a big part of her life,” Chapelle expressed. “I don’t think I could have done it if I’d never seen her again, which made it a lot easier.”
