93 Year Old Surgeon Is Still A Professor In A Hospital Which Is Run By The Health Service


A place that has the oldest memories is the place we all cherish.

Remember how when you think of your school or college, the teachers are the one thing you wish to go back to.

Imagine if you went back and find none of your teachers there. Well, the students of NHS, the ones who were in the college since the very first day will have a teacher to go back to.

Professor Harold Ellis is 93 years old and the man teaching in the college right after he was qualified as a surgeon in July 1948, 71 years ago.

7 decades later, when the man has become 93 years old, he still professes at the NHS hospital sitting right at his home in East Finchley, in greater London for five days a week.

As per the records, there has been no other person who has served this much in the medical field in the UK as it says that the man has dedicated his whole life to NHS.

When he was asked what is making him work in his 90s he made a joke and said that his wife likes him out of the house and that the staff should remimd him when he crosses his 90s.

He has worked in hospitals around the country, juggling from one place to another. He worked as both the surgeon and the professor of surgery.

The old old man used to practice as well as teach at the Westminster Hospital which is now closed. In 1989 he started teaching anatomy at the Cambridge University. And now he is teaching at the Guy’s Hospital in London and receives his paychecks from the University of London.
