The pair met through a dating website that specifically pairs sugar daddies and sugar babies. Although Sabrina admits it was initially for the money, she now insists that it’s not the case.

Sabrina said: “I met Grant on the sugar daddy, sugar baby website initially for financial reasons. I thought I would just find a sugar daddy but now it’s for love, it’s not for money.

“When society sees us walking they think, ‘Oh I wonder how much money he gives her, she’s only in it for the money’.”

Grant added: “I was surprised to find true love online. I really didn’t expect it at all.”

Stories of couples falling in love after meeting online are not new but falling in love after meeting through a sugar daddy website is far less common.

Even so, Grant doesn’t like being called a sugar daddy.

He said: “In terms of being called a sugar daddy, I am a little bit anti being called that because of the men who have taken it in the wrong direction. Where it’s just strictly money transfers for brief interludes of companionship, so that’s really not my goal or direction, so I’m really not truly a sugar daddy.”

Before he met Sabrina, Grant had mixed success dating women through the site.

He said he’d “mostly just pay for dates” and try out monthly allowance payments but the women “would disappear and reappear maybe the last day of the month.”

But on meeting Sabrina, they both just clicked immediately.

Sabrina said: “It’s like any other relationship like anyone else my age or older, I’m really happy.”

“We clicked right away. We just got to know each other and the more we got to know each other the more that I just liked him as a person, it wasn’t superficial.”

Grant agreed: “We kind of put money aside, we didn’t even care about money.”

Sabrina said her experience with Grant was on a different level compared to how she felt with other sugar daddies.

“Some men that I saw were unattractive, I wasn’t attracted to them so it was just about the money. He makes me so happy. He really does. It’s not transactional, it’s not about money. He just treats me like a princess. He really does. And I tried to treat him like the diamond he is. So I try to respect him. So he’s my diamond daddy.”

However, her other daddy, her real one who she still lives with, is not happy about the relationship. Not surprising especially since he’s three years younger than Grant.

Sabrina said: “Unfortunately my mom is no longer here, but my dad, he doesn’t approve. He’s still stubborn. He does not approve of it. I don’t really tell him a lot about it. I noticed if I post a picture of me and Grant on Facebook, my friends will like it but my family won’t like the picture.”

Grant has three children from a previous marriage. While they know about Sabrina, it’s not something they like to discuss.

Grant said: “If you asked them, they would say they know, we don’t discuss it or the pros and cons of it on my behalf.”

Aside from people assuming their relationship is strictly financial in nature, they’ve also had to get used to people mistaking Sabrina for Grant’s daughter.

Sabrina said: “He’s been asked actually on a number of occasions, ‘is that your daughter?’ And he’s like, ‘Oh no that’s my girlfriend.’ But I feel people just think it’s about money and that’s it. They don’t assume that I could just like him, love him for just him, just his personality.”

Grant finishes: “I just feel like I understand her soul in a deeper way than I understood anyone else.”
