21-year-old Simone Norowzian from Sunbury, England, was a clever student and a social justice activist who accidentally swerved off a cliff while having a good time with her friends back in August.

As the inquest heard, the student, who is also known as Atousa, enjoyed dinner and drinks at a local pub located near the Airbnb place she and her friends had rented for their outing.

After returning to the rented apartment and playing truth or dare with her friends, Norowzian left the building together with her friend, William Hayman, to light a cigarette by the beach in the early morning hours.

After making her way some thirty feet ahead of her friend, the 21-year-old climbed a railing thinking she will be able to access a hill that leads to the beach. Unfortunately, however, she fell off the cliff before her friend could warn and stop her, Kent Online reported.

“We decided to go to bed and Simone wanted a cigarette. She and I walked out into the car park and I realized she was very intoxicated,” Hayman recalled in a statement.

“She was ahead of me by about 10 meters and walked towards the fence where the viewing binoculars were. As I shouted that there was a cliff, I heard a short, sharp scream.”

As William added, he knows for a fact that his friend “would not have gone over on purpose.”

Following the girl’s premature passing, Coroner Joanne Andrews ruled the death as an accident. Meanwhile, Simone’s family paid the student a touching tribute.

“We are truly heartbroken. But we are lucky enough to remember her as an inspirational daughter, sister and aunty. She was a true bright star, full of light and passion who was going to set the world alight,” they wrote.

“Like her mum, Atousa was passionate about social justice and equality. She was also whip-smart, one of the only students from her school to attend Oxford University.”

Meanwhile, Simone’s sister, Claire, dubbed the 21-year-old “a sensible girl” and “a keen actor” who had her entire life ahead of her.

“She couldn’t clearly assess the danger. She thought she was climbing over the barrier to a hill to the beach,” she explained.
