A college student went viral after she was spotted crocheting in the stands while waiting to watch the Kansas Jayhawks play the Oklahoma Sooners.
The woman was captured in ESPN cameras which shows she is sitting by herself with her crocheting supplies right before kickoff at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium.
Nicole Auerbach of The Athletic found out the details of crocheting woman and she was later identified as University of Kansas senior Hailey Solomon.
”Though I know football is a well-loved pastime, I’ve never taken to it, so I brought my crocheting to keep me busy until the presentation,” Solomon, who is majoring in civil engineering, told The Athletic.
”I sat away from the crowd so I would have a good view and contentedly worked away at a little potholder before the game began. Once it did, I watched it for a bit but somehow got turned around and managed to lose track of which direction my team was supposed to be going.”
ESPN tweeted: ‘College football is ELECTRIC,’ along with the clip of woman crocheting in the stadium. The post has been viewed more than 1.4 million times since it was posted.
The clip shows Hailey is sitting with white yarn on her lap and a crochet hook in her hand as she starts her project in the stands.
“Not all heroes wear capes,” wrote one Minneapolis radio station in response to the video.
‘In the country, we will see how far along this lady is with her knitting in about 25 minutes — if she can get something warmer for Tom down on the field,’ the announcer says in the short clip.
Many people pointed out that she was crocheting, not knitting, with one woman tweeting: ‘It’s crocheting not knitting… clueless male announcer.’
‘Football in Lawrence, KS. Bring a hobby,’ one person wrote, while someone else commented: ‘This is KU football personified—in all its glory.’
‘She must be a Knittany Lions fan,’ a commenter joked.
‘It was either that or drinking vodka from a plastic milk jug,’ another said.
Several Twitter users found it good as she is being so productive with her time.
‘That’s hilarious. But I love how she’s not wasting time around doing nothing. Yass productivity!’ one person wrote.
Another wrote: ‘Good to see someone doing something that doesn’t involve a phone!’
