A student who tested positive for Covid-19 last week threw a party for 20 people during his quarantine period.

When questioned by an officer if he was supposed to be quarantined at home, the student explained ‘that’s why I’m at my house.’

Video of the party shows an officer approaching the partygoers chilling outside the house and asked to talk to the owner of the property.

A young man then stepped forward and admitted that he has broken the law about gatherings with a maximum of only ten people.

The man reportedly said that eight people lived in the house and his friends had just stopped by.

After running the student’s ID through the police database, he was shocked to find out the student’s Covid-19 diagnosis.

“I’ve never seen this before. There’s an input on the computer that you tested positive for COVID,” the cop said. “Are you supposed to be quarantining?” he asked.

“Yeah. That’s why I’m at my house,” the student replied.

The officer then asked: “So you have other people here, and you’re positive for COVID? You see the problem? How many other people have COVID?”

The young man first claimed all guests have the infection but then said he thought only two.

“That’s what we’re trying to prevent, man. We’re trying to keep this town open,” the officer told him.

“I know. That’s why I’m staying home,” the student insisted.

Six people, five were aged 21 and one was 20, were cited a civil penalty that comes with a $500 fine.

“We do not know if anybody else at that party was aware of the COVID-positive residents because some of them left while the officer was there,” Lt. Lara Fening said to Local 12.

“We want to stay safe; we want to be healthy; we want everyone around us to be healthy; we want this town to be thriving; we don’t want this town to be shut down again. We want the underclassmen to come back.”
