Student Arrested After Calling His Classmate The N-Word And Saying He Should Be In Chains

A Connecticut student was arrested and charged with racial harassment after mocking his Black classmate.

A 16-year-old Fairfield Warde High School student, who hasn’t been named for legal reasons, was apprehended by the authorities after calling his 16-year-old classmate Jamar Medor the N-word.

According to the reports, the unidentified student posted a picture of Jamar on Snapchat. The caption of the photo read: “Why is there a n***** in my homeroom? Why is he not in chains?”

As Medor told ABC 7, he was shocked after spotting the racist snap on social media.

“I just had no words when I saw it. I was so confused,” the 16-year-old says. “I just don’t feel comfortable going to school or walking the halls, so I stayed home today actually.”

Though the teen admitted he had never experienced racial harassment at his high school before, he says the incident has left him genuinely concerned.

Meanwhile, the boy’s mother said she is now worried for her son’s safety because she doesn’t know how the other student will react.

Following the incident, thousands of people have signed a petition to have the racist student kicked from Fairfield Warde High School.

While Head Principal Paul Cavanna “announced an effort to create a long-term plan to foster unity” according to Patch, it is currently unclear whether the 16-year-old student who harassed his classmate will be removed.

The student, however, has since been charged with breach of peace and racial harassment.

According to Niche, only three percent of Fairfield Warde High School students are Black, whereas the school lies in Fairfield County, one of the richest counties in Connecticut.
