We’re often told to be good to others – that we should care and provide support for those in need.
But, just how much would you be willing to help?
Well, Joey Resto, featured in the video below, went out of his way to help out a homeless man on NYC subway.
As you can see from the video, a homeless man was sitting by himself without a coat on, even though the temperature was below freezing at the time.
Then, Resto walks over to him.
Not only did Resto offer the shirt he was wearing to the man, but he also helped this elderly man to put on the shirt. Resto even goes back to get his hat, which he gives it to the man without any hesitation.
Such unbelievably kind gesture made by Resto would have gone unnoticed if not for the video.
Thankfully, a man named Lazaro Nolasco, who was so impressed by Resto, shot the entire encounter between Resto and the homeless man. Thinking that Resto deserves some recognition, Nolasco went to shared the video on Facebook.
The video went viral – garnering more than 300,000 likes and over 200,000 shares.
Later, viewers were able to know the identity of this selfless man – Joey Resto, a 23-year-old paralegal living in New York.
According to the New York Daily News, Resto said that “it was a natural reaction to help, to do what I can. I hope they find this guy. It’s not hard to spot him.”
He also added, “It just came from the heart. I don’t know how anyone could have walked past him and had extra clothing and not given it to him. He was warm for the first time in I don’t know how long. He just curled up in a corner and went to sleep.”
According to Resto, he actually offered the homeless man to go to Brooklyn with him to get some more clothes or a hot meal. The homeless man, however, chose to remain on the train as Resto got off at the station.
Resto said that he’d do it again, and that he wished he could’ve done more to help out the man.
I’m simply blown away by Resto’s selfless action.
What about you?
