A grocery store in Australia has come up with a brilliant idea to stop hoarders from overbuying toilet paper and emptying the shelves.

In order to save enough toilet paper so that everyone can enjoy a roll, Hazem Sedda, the owner of Sydney’s Redfern Convenience Store, decided to charge customers $3.50 per pack of toilet paper and $99 for two packs.

Onto the shelves stocked with toilet paper, the man also posted a note that read: “Don’t be greedy, think of the other people.”

As the store owner admitted in an interview with Daily Mail Australia, he previously put up a sign saying only one pack of toilet paper per person was allowed.

According to Mr. Sedda, however, the rule was ignored by plenty of shoppers.

“Everyone was taking two or three and telling me it was for their mum or sister. It was annoying they kept ignoring the sign. When I put the two pack for $99 everyone was just taking one. No one came up with two,” the man told Daily Mail Australia.

“All the old people and all the desperate people were able to get some as well, that was the whole point.”

As Sedda explained, he wanted to make sure that everyone in his community would have the chance to get some toilet paper if they decided to look for it in his store.

Allegedly, the Redfern Convenience Store also got a fair share of new customers who came to the store after they were unable to find toilet paper elsewhere.

After Sedda’s way of handling panic-buyers went viral, the businessman was praised for imposing strict rules to make sure everyone can get a roll of toilet paper.
