“Stop Following American Trends”- Taliban WARN Barbers Against Shaving Beards & Modern Hairstyles


Taliban have raised their voice against American trends and that’s why they’re warning barbers to pay attention or face punishment.

Recent reports from the Helmand district in Afghanistan have revealed how the Taliban are totally against modern hairstyles that have seemingly come as an inspiration from the US.

Referring to them as ‘American styles,’ the latest warning issued by Taliban officials to barbers included an end to modern haircuts and no trimming or even shaving of beards too.

The Taliban have recently been busy putting up signboards across the province where they warn against such behavior. Adding how cutting or shaving beards was anti- Sharia, they also spoke about the great punishment in store for those who fail to comply with their latest rules and regulations.

Meanwhile, similar orders have also gone about in the capital city of Kabul, sparking great fear amongst citizens who believe they have no say or views regarding the decision.

“No one here has the right to complain, we are living in fear,” people mentioned.

As far as barbers are concerned, they’re mentioning how they’ve got no choice but to pay heed and adhere to their guidelines because no one wants to be in the Taliban’s bad books. Moreover, one barber spoke about how so much has changed in the past one month, and that’s ever since the Taliban took control.

“People are very afraid. They simply enter in, and ask for the simplest hair cuts, and then leave,” the barber mentioned. This is very different from the past where the US-backed Afghan Government gave rise to modern trends, including plenty of fashion inspiration.

From mohawks and quiffs to crew cuts too- many young Afghans loved experimenting with their styles. But for now, it appears they’re back to square one after the latest wave of warnings being issued by Taliban officials over the matter.
