State Lawmaker Arrested And Charged After Storming The Capitol And Filming The Moment


The GOP state lawmaker who live-streamed the moment he and the MAGA mob broke into the US Capitol has resigned and apologized.

35-year-old Derrick Evans reportedly stepped down from his position as a member of the West Virginia’s House of Delegates after both Republicans and Democrats slammed his actions and his involvement in the violent riot that turned deadly.

In his letter to Governor Jim Justice, Evans announced that he was resigning effective immediately.

Following his participation in the insurrection at Capitol Hill, Evans was arrested by the FBI and taken before a federal judge. The former lawmaker was reportedly charged with disorderly conduct and entering a restricted area. He is facing up to 36 months in prison if found guilty of his misdemeanor charges.

In a Saturday statement, Evans said he takes full responsibility for his actions as he apologized and called for her “healing process” to being.

“I take full responsibility for my actions, and deeply regret any hurt, pain or embarrassment I may have caused my family, friends, constituents and fellow West Virginians,” the 35-year-old said.

“I hope this action I take today can remove any cloud of distraction from the state Legislature, so my colleagues can get to work in earnest building a brighter future for our state.

“And more importantly, I hope it helps to begin the healing process, so we can all move forward and come together as ‘One Nation, Under God.’”

Evans’ participation in the riot has come to light after the state delegate live-streamed the moment he and the MAGA mob stormed the Capitol.

Before the rioters broke the door and stormed the Capitol, Evans was seen recording and encouraging them by repeatedly shouting: “Trump! Trump! Trump!”

After the mob managed to open the door, Evans followed the rioters inside the building before proclaiming: “We’re in, we’re in, Derrick Evans is in the Capitol!”

Once inside, Evans went on to approach a police officer and defend the rioters saying they “don’t want nobody hurt.”

“It’s nothing personal against you,” the lawmaker told the cop after telling him he still respects him.

With more and more Trump supporters swarming the great halls of the Capitol, Evans then urged those around him not to commit vandalism.

“No vandalizing property! No vandalizing! This is artifacts, alright? No vandalizing,” he shouted.

“I don’t know where we’re going. I’m just following the crowd,” he added before the video ended.
