Hundreds of healthcare workers and frontliners were caught on camera lining up on the street to pay their respects to a devoted surgeon who died from coronavirus.
58-year-old Sadeq Elhowsh was a “wonderful husband as well as a devoted father” who spent decades “supporting his patients and his colleagues” according to his family.
According to the reports, the orthopedic surgeon succumbed to COVID-19 whereas his hearse drove past the St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals where he worked.
To pay a tribute to their fallen colleague, hundreds of healthcare workers gathered on the street outside the hospital as the hearse passed by.
“Seems the entire hospital came out to pay respect to colleague Mr Sadeq Elhowsh,” the caption of the tear-jerking video that was shared online read.
Paying a tribute to the hardworking surgeon was also his family who described the 58-year-old as a “devoted father.”
“Sadeq was a wonderful husband as well as a devoted father and he dearly loved his family. We cannot put into words the depth of our loss. He loved his work and was dedicated to supporting his patients and his colleagues,” the family expressed.
After the surgeon’s tragic passing, one of his colleagues revealed how Elhowsh was always there to help people, both his patients and his colleagues.
“Nothing was ever too much trouble for Sadeq, he was always there to help anyone and was happy to do whatever was needed to help his colleagues and patients,” Ravi Gudena said.
Paying her respects to the deceased surgeon and father was also Ann Marr OBE, the chief executive of the hospital, who claimed that “Sadeq will be sadly missed by all who knew and worked with him. He was without doubt a much-loved member of the team.”
