Spring breakers continue to socialize and party despite government warnings and strict measures taken to contain the coronavirus outbreak.
While the authorities in Ford Lauderdale and Miami Beach have already closed down bars and beaches, thousands of youths have gathered in Florida to party and celebrate the spring break period regardless of the pandemic.
“If I get corona, I get corona. At the end of the day I’m not going to let it stop me,” one partygoer said in an interview with CBS.
While students have been warned they could face prosecution if caught mingling in big groups, many are still gathering along the coast to drink and party.
“It’s so weird, we didn’t think it was going to get this bad. At least I’m still in warm weather though, so whatever, I’ll just hang out in the hotel and flex. I’m staying for the rest of my trip,” another spring breaker told the outlet.
Previously, Florida beaches were seen packed with people shortly after President Donald Trump urged Americans to stay at home and social distance in order to prevent the spreading of coronavirus.
As seen in photos taken at the Clearwater Beach, visitors have ignored official warnings as they took to the sands to sunbathe.
Even though major beaches were shut down amid the outbreak in the country, thousands of people still chose to ignore the orders.
Hundreds of spring break partygoers were also seen in different parts of Miami’s South Beach where they continued to celebrate despite police officers’ orders to leave.
While some parts of the white beach were blocked by the police, the beachgoers have allegedly moved to other areas to continue their parties.
