We have always heard that monkeys are our ancestors.
We have transformed from monkeys to humans, which is a scientifically proven truth.
But over time evolution occurred and the human body is a lot different from the body of a monkey now, but there still are too many similarities too.
A Spanish scientist claims that he has now successfully developed a hybrid of a human a monkey now.
Juan Carlos Izpisúa Belmonte, says that they had to abort the project in between but the hybrid was ready and if they hadn’t aborted the mission then the baby would have been born.
They say that they transformed the genes of the monkey embryo by implanting the genes of a human in order to be able to develop organs in the embryo. They deactivated the genes of the monkey embryo in the procedure.
After that, they implanted human stem cells in the embryo. Human stem cells are responsible for the building of the tissues and they can create any kind of tissues in a body.
Although, if the project was a success – Which it is believed to be – the animals can be used for hum transplant. But the major issue is that the procedure can only take place in China because of legal issues.
Although the team has not spoken about what happened in order to make it official for the public but they did share what happened in the test with a newspaper.
Belmonte has some previous experience in the same field. He says that he and his team were the first to have an attempt at developing a human-pig hybrid back in 2007 which was not as successful but close. But this time they had been very close to their success.
