According to daily mail, a father has gotten thousands of calls wishing him a happy birthday from around the world after his sons put up a billboard with his cell phone number as a prank.

Chris Ferry turns 62 on March 16 and has gotten more than 15,000 calls and texts from as far away as Germany and Africa since the billboard went up last Wednesday in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Ferry’s adult sons, Michael and Chris Jr, have a tradition of playing jokes on their father and decided to put up the billboard when they couldn’t decide what to get him for his birthday. It cost them $2,000 to pull off the prank according to Inside Edition.

‘It was fun until this morning. Then I wanted to kill them. But I’m going with it, having a good time,’ Chris Ferry told WCBS-TV.

When they were younger, the sons would often play a joke on the father by telling waiters in restaurants that it was his birthday when it wasn’t.

They decided to continue the tradition by renting the billboard on Black Horse Pike outside of an addiction recovery center.

Chris Ferry learned of the prank when a stranger named Nick texted him to wish him a happy birthday.

The father asked how they knew each other, and learned of the billboard.

He quickly drove out from his home in Linwood, New Jersey to see it for himself and pose for a picture next to the sign.

‘I just wanted to wish him an extra special birthday,’ said his son Mike Ferry.

The billboard will stay up until April 6, but Chris Ferry’s voicemail box is already full from all of the well-wishers.

Meanwhile, Chris Ferry says he plans to get back at his sons with a prank of his own.

‘I would love to see him try,’ Mike Ferry told the CBS affiliate.

‘I just wanted to say I love my dad, I love my family, and I’m really glad he’s getting attention because he’s a great guy. He always puts others first, especially me and my brother.
