A heartbroken son broke down in tears after his mother passed away from coronavirus.
Stuart Hamlin said was unable to say goodbye to his mother Tracy after she was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Four days later, she died, with her family unable to see her.
To prevent the spread of infection, hospitals are banning families and friends on coronavirus wards.
Hours after Tracy passed away, Mr. Hamlin shared a heartbreaking video describing the ‘gut-wrenching’ pain of losing his mother.
“On Monday mum got taken to hospital. It looked like it was this corona. That was Monday. And now it’s Thursday and she’s gone. Just like that, gone,” he shared.
Mr. Hamlin broke down in tears, weeping helplessly as he warned others that this ‘fu***** thing ain’t playing’ and asked people to stay indoors.
“And we can’t grieve, we can’t comfort each other. We can’t hold each other,” he went on. “Losing someone is hard enough but not being able to hold your family close when you do is the most gut-wrenching pain I’ve ever felt in my life.
“It ain’t until it’s closer to home that you realise how dangerous it is. I love you mum.”
His video has been viewed over four million times, with internet users sending their support.
In another Facebook post, Mr. Hamlin paid tribute to his mom and wrote: “It is with a heavy heart that I let you all know that our beautiful mum sadly went to sleep early hours of this morning after fighting this horrendous virus in hospital since Monday.
!I can’t even begin to explain the pain and grief this has caused our family, not being able to grieve or hold one another in this difficult time. It hurts so bad. It’s like a bad dream we can’t wake up from.
“Mum you was loved by so so many people. So many will miss your gentle, kind ways. How funny you was…’if your good I’ll let you make me a cuppa tea.’ You have no idea how much you have helped me In my darkest days, when I thought all hope was lost you held me and told me it was going to be ok.
“Your arms wrapped tight around me, your head on my chest, squeezing me with what little strength you had left.”
He added: “I could feel how much you loved me. It flowed out of you like a rainbow. It made me feel like I was loved far beyond what words can describe. A feeling I will never forget
“So much I needed to do and say. So much more I wanted to do, and So much I can’t undo or change. I am so thankful for the love you gave me even when I didn’t deserve it. You will always be in my heart. Always.”
