Son Takes The Lives Of His Elderly Father And Mother Then Shoots Officers Who Arrived To Conduct A Welfare Check At Home


A man allegedly took the lives of his elderly father and mother in North Carolina before shooting police officers who arrived to conduct a welfare check.

The shocking news was announced in the North Carolina General Assembly by state representative Ray Pickett but the names of the son and his parents have not yet been released.

“I received some terrible news from Watauga County today,” Pickett said.

“We’ve had a situation, at first we thought it was a teenager but through further reports, he was an older gentleman,” Pickett continued.

“He killed his mother and father today. Sheriff’s deputies responded to a welfare check. He ambushed them, shot three of them – killed one.

“A second one is holding on by a thread.”

The Watauga County Sheriff’s Office said the man has fired at law enforcement officers and was barricaded in a part of the home.

According to reports, deputies were dispatched to the home at around 9:44 am after the homeowner and his parents did not report for work or answer calls.

But when deputies arrived, they were fired upon. One officer was shot and rushed to a hospital in Johnson City, Tennessee.

A neighbor, 78-year-old Clarence Wilson, said he was on the porch of his home when deputies arrived and shots were fired.

“Then they told me to get back in the house and stay,” he said, adding he saw officers pulling a man from the house.

“I don´t know if it was a deputy or who it was,” he said. “I was just worried about keeping myself safe.”
