A 30-year-old soldier was found dead in a bullet-ridden car on New Year’s Day.
Jessica Mitchell was an Army drill sergeant and a mother who was based at JBSA-Fort Sam Houston’s US Army Medical Center of Excellence.
According to the reports, the authorities found the body of the soldier, who was survived by her 10-year-old son, in San Antonio along Interstate 10.
The body was discovered at around 3 am, whereas Army officials reported that the sergeant’s vehicle was riddled with bullets.

According to the reports, the 30-year-old was on a leave at the time of her death. When the authorities arrived at the scene, she no longer had a pulse, whereas she was pronounced dead shortly after.
The shooting took place three years after Mitchell lost her brother to gun violence. Back on June 26, 2017, the soldier’s 18-year-old brother, Justice, was fatally shot by Lamero Dunstan.
“I told all my children, I want you to do better than what I have done. She and my children have so far and she wanted to be the best that she can be in her military career. But that was cut short,” the sergeant’s father, Mayo Mitchell, told Fox 29 after the tragic incident.
Meanwhile, Mitchell’s sister, Ashely, said: “Why would anybody want to do this? Why why why why? Why? Why do people do such heinous acts of crime for no reason? You know, like, human life is not material it cannot be replaced.”
As of this writing, the investigation is on-going. So far, no arrests have been made in connection to the shooting.
