What they saw was nothing like they had ever imagined.

An old man was watering Joseph’s grave site, and none of the family members knew who he was.

When he finished watering Joseph’s grave, this man turned to leave. So, the family rushed after him, and asked him who he was, and why he was watering Joseph’s grave.

His name was Jake Reissig, a widower who visited his wife’s grave every day.
Because her grave was nearby Joseph’s, Jake heard Joseph’s sister crying in front of his grave.

When he learned that Joseph was a US soldier, Jake decided to pay respect and gratitude in this special way – by watering his grave spot.

So, every day, Jake showed up to the Cemetery to water two graves – his wife, and Joseph’s.

When they heard his story, Joseph’s family were stunned by Jake’s thoughtful gesture.

“It was just incredible to know that a stranger would take that much time and care for our son who he didn’t even know,” said Joseph’s mom, Rachel.
