He and his wife tried to get into their home but the two ex-cons had changed the locks and refused to let them in.

Michael was told that Julio Ortiz and Fatima Cardosa had established residency when he was away and they wouldn’t be able to get back their house.

Ortiz claimed that Michael’s friend who was looking after his home had a verbal agreement with him that he could live at the property.

“The people that are in this house cannot produce any documentation, lease, agreement, anything that they belong in that house,” Sharkey told WFLA.

“They are criminals. I am serving my country, and they have more rights to my home than I do.”

When the police couldn’t do anything, Michael turned to a group of local bikers for help.

When Ortiz and Cardosa came to know that the bikers would be paying a visit to Michael’s home, they decided to leave.

It was really sad police couldn’t remove Ortiz who had spent 12 years in prison for crimes like robbery, carjacking and selling drugs.

And, a soldier who was serving his country had to turn to the bikers for help as his own house had been stolen by the squatters.

When the story went viral, people criticized the ex-cons. One user wrote: ‘The squatters law is the most idiotic thing I’ve ever heard! State government needs to relook at this and get rid of it!’

Another wrote: ‘Squatters need to be arrested, or forced out. A civil matter, so basically beat the shit out of them till they leave? There really needs to be a law against squatting, how it’s legal is beyond me. Even for the soldiers that fight wars need special protection from squatters since they sacrifice so much to protect their country.’

Thankfully, it ended well and the soldier got his house back. Thanks to the bikers for their help.
