Kristen Bell Warned That Snow White Is Sending ‘Wrong Message’ To Kids

Kristen Bell, a popular American singer, and actress, recently raised concerns about kids being introduced to the story of Snow White because, according to the actress, the story sends a wrong message to young kids.

In case you’ve forgotten already, the Snow White plot follows a missing princess who hid from her evil stepmother in a small house occupied by seven dwarves.

After the queen found out her whereabouts, she brought her a poisoned apple that forced the princess into a death-like endless sleep. The only way that this spell could be broken was by prince’s kiss.

Now, of course, the prince never asked for consent from Snow White before kissing her. For this reason, Bell believes children could easily misinterpret the Prince’s actions.

The actress shared her concerns online after realizing what she had read to her two children one evening.

“Don’t you think that it’s weird that the prince kisses Snow White without her permission? Because you cannot kiss someone if they’re sleeping,” Bell told her kids after reading the story according to her online plea to other parents.

“Every time we close Snow White I look at my girls and ask, ‘Don’t you think it’s weird that Snow White didn’t ask the old witch why she needed to eat the apple? Or where she got that apple?’” Bell wrote.

“I say, ‘I would never take food from a stranger, would you?’ And my kids are like, ‘No!’ And I’m like, ‘Okay, I’m doing something right.’”

While Bell’s point of view was met positively by some other parents on social media, the actress was also met with plenty of criticism.

“Wow misinterpreted fairy tale. Wasn’t it The Prince was the saviour of Snow White kissing her without malicious intent? @IMKristenBell must’ve lost track of the story. It’s wasn’t a stolen or molested kiss. Is this another attack on the men? Everything offends everyone,” one person wrote.

Bell’s rant follows Keira Knightley’s public announcement that she has banned her 3-year-old daughter from several Disney movies.

“Cinderella – banned. Because, you know, she waits around for a rich guy to rescue her – don’t. Rescue yourself, obviously,” she said on The Ellen Show.

“And this is the one that I’m quite annoyed about because I really like the film, but The Little Mermaid. I mean, the songs are great, but do not give your voice up for a man,” she added.

According to her, however, movies such as Frozen, Moana, and Finding Dory are totally fine.
