University Of Kansas Apologized For Snoop Dogg’s Performance At A Basketball Event


A Snoop Dogg performance did not go well for the University of Kansas.

The school issued an apology Friday night after the hip-hop star performance was criticized for being too steamy.

Videos from the evening showed Snoop performing fellow rapper, Akon’s hit ‘I Wanna F**k You’.

Snoop, who is featured on the song, is seen in multiple videos using a cash cannon. One of the women danced on a pole directly in front of him. He is then seen using the cannon to send fake money flying into the audience.

The performance received a lot of criticism, with some people finding it ‘offensive’, which prompted Kansas athletic director Jeff Long to issue an apology for not vetting the show.

‘We apologize to anyone who was offended by the Snoop Dogg performance at Late Night,’ the statement begins.

‘We made it clear to the entertainers’ managers that we expected a clean version of the show and took additional steps to communicate to our fans, including moving the artist to the final act of the evening, to ensure that no basketball activities would be missed if anyone did not want to stay for his show.’

‘I take full responsibility for not thoroughly vetting all the details of the performance and offer my apology to those who were offended.

‘We strive to create a family atmosphere at Kansas and fell short of that this evening.’

Snoop met with players from both teams before taking the court for the show, during which he sprayed both benches with fake money bearing his face.

One photo shows the rapper posing with head coach Bill Self. The photo was shared by the Kansas Basketball Twitter account with the caption: ‘I C O N I C.’ 

Despite posing for photos with the rapper, Self said the show was not what he expected.

‘That’s not the direction that anybody at our school would want that to go at all,’ he told ESPN. 

‘Regardless of the entertainment that it provided many, it was still not the right way to provide the entertainment.’
