Having a poor internet connection is such a frustrating experience. Sometimes it’s because of a wrong router setting or poor services from the company but most problems occur because specific objects or furniture being too close to the WiFi device or the computer.
Below are 8 items that are your WiFi’s main enemies.
If you have your router located near a microwave, put it on a place that’s higher than the level of the microwave. This will substantially reduce the negative effect that the microwave can have on the connection.
Drones operate at 2.4 GHz frequency, which is the same WiFi routers, but not all drone models generate that interference. It all depends on the model of the drone.
#3. Baby monitors
Baby monitors generate a 2.4 GHz interference, the same as WiFi. When 2 or more devices transmit the same frequency. Although baby monitors usually require a connection to a network to function correctly, avoid placing them too close to the router.
#4. Christmas lights
Those colorful Christmas lights can cause a weak WiFi signal at home. The lights have sparkling chips that generate a magnetic field which interferes with the electrical waves issued by your router.
#5. Refrigerators and washing machines
Electrical appliances that have pipes to circulate water are not very good for WiFi signal. Water can retain some of the energy from the wireless waves, which negatively affects the quality of the internet connection.
The mirror reflects the signal released by the router which will make the internet connection bounce. When it’s close to the router, it can disrupt the signal.
#7. Brick and stone walls
Certain types of walls will interfere with your WiFi signal. Some of the most common materials that prevent a good connection is marble, cement, concrete, plaster, and brick.
#8. Metal surfaces and furniture
Metal is a conductor, which absorbs electricity. Since your WiFi releases electromagnetic waves, any metal surface or object in your house will absorb the waves.
