Fire is indeed deadly and do you know that in case of a house fire, residents usually have around 2-3 minutes to escape.
Most of the times it’s not about the flames, it’s the toxic gas and the smoke that are the causes of fatalities.
But firefighters have recently revealed a trick that can help save many lives in case of house fire, especially if your children are sleeping in a separate room.
The fire department of New Fairfield, Connecticut has recently shared two shocking pictures of a house that caught fire and was damaged badly.
These are the photos of a door that was locked when the fire broke out.
One of the pictures is the taken outside the room while the other one was taken from the inside and if you compare the difference between both the pictures, you will understand yourself, what is the trick that the firefighters are talking about.
The first picture taken from outside shows that the smoke scorched the outside of the door and have turned it to completely dark.
On the other hand, the inner side of the door is completely undamaged and even the color of the door is hardly affected.
It showed that the smoke could barely enter the room and that way closing the door could save your life in case of fire.
Town Of New Fairfield’s Fire Marshal’s Office uploaded these images on Facebook and people have been sharing them to let other people know about this safety tip. The post states,
“The photos below are a great example of the importance of keeping bedroom doors closed while sleeping
. The door pictured in both photos is a hollow core door to a bedroom. While the front of the door is severely damaged the closed door protected the bedroom and its contents.
If this were an occupied bedroom the closed door could have saved a life.”
Don’t forget to share this safety tip with your friends and family.
