For six-year-old Clair Hurta, that involved taking up wakeboarding since she was two years old.

Clair quickly took to the sport the way a fish takes to water and the amount of effort she has put in all her young years is quite evident as she can effortlessly glide along on her wakeboard and still have the coordination necessary to knock off some amazing dance moves.

While you may think that the reason Clair is so good is that she started young, wakeboarding is actually quite easy to take up, meaning you don’t need to spend too many hours learning the sport.

Depending on any prior board experience you may have and your confidence, wakeboarding has a steep learning curve which sets it apart from other water sports. Even your first go may see you popping ollies or carving up a watery wall.

Wakeboarding developed from waterskiing, a sport where the boat tows a person wearing two planks. Over the past 30 years, wakeboarding took its current form when people started applying the concept of land-based board sports to the water.

It can get quite addictive so you should give it a try to see if the rush is right up your alley.
