And even though they can’t be termed as identical by the human eye, their iPhones with ‘latest’ face recognition features are unable to detect the difference.

Hanife, 30, and Eva, 26, accidentally realized that their mobiles can get unlocked by any of them just staring at the touch screen for facial recognition.

And that’s a big flaw in a device with Face ID technology that should be intelligent enough to detect different faces.

The sisters from Orpington, London, described how they came to know about the glitch in Apple’s latest phones.

“We both got our phones last year but only realized recently,” said Hanife. “Eva held me phone and it opened out of nowhere. We tried it again and it keeps on working.

“We even tried to reset the phones but it keeps happening.

“It’s really shocking that someone else can open up my phone. It means she can access bank accounts and everything.

“I think it is a security risk. The face recognition is one of the main reasons I got my phone.”

She added: “We are both quite annoyed about it. The technology is supposed to be so advanced and is not supposed to let this sort of thing happen.”

Hanife, who is from Kosovo but now lives in England with her family, has iPhone11 while her younger sister owns iPhone Xs Max.

Both the sisters, who work as care workers, pay £160($200) as monthly installments on phone contracts.

After Eva discovered that she can unlock her sister’s phone by glancing at it, Hanife tried the same with Eva’s iPhone and found that she can do it too.

Hanife said: “We have tried to reset the phones but it still works anyway. I hoped it might just be a one off but it’s not, it keeps on happening whenever we try it.”

The incident which might seem funny to many people is actually shocking. Henife was worried if anyone with the same eye and hair color as her could open up her phone.

She said: “At first we found it a bit funny but it is quite shocking. I wonder if someone who has black hair and brown eyes could open my phone too. We do not look alike at all.”
