Two young sisters were spotted by the authorities as they were traveling all alone near the United States border with Mexico.
On Wednesday, Border Patrol agents came upon a heartbreaking sight as they found two little girls, aged four and six, near the Yuma Sector in Arizona.
As the authorities confirmed, the two children were walking near the border alone after being dropped off in the States by smugglers.
Upon further inspection, the agents also found out that the older sister was carrying a piece of paper containing information about their aunt who is allegedly staying in the US.
After spotting the pair walking around all alone, an officer of the US Border Patrol’s Yuma Sector held the girls by their hands as he led them to safety.
“The girls were taken into custody and attempts will be made to reunite them with family,” the border patrol sector confirmed.
According to the reports, the area where the two sisters were dropped off by smugglers is an “often-used crossing point by unaccompanied migrant juveniles.”
The heartbreaking instance takes place only a day after a smuggler was caught on camera scaling the border wall with a 7-year-old girl on his back.
After climbing the wall and descending on the other side, the smuggler dropped off the young child and left her all alone before climbing back and making a getaway.
Following the incident, Border Patrol agents took the little girl, who came to the States all the way from El Salvador, to the El Centro Sector Processing Center.
