A Woman Doesn’t Want Her Sister To Be Her Maid Of Honor As Her Arm Sling Would Ruin Her Wedding Photos

A bride-to-be was called ‘selfish’ after she fires her sister from her maid of honor duties because she thought her sling would ‘ruin’ the wedding photos.

The anonymous woman, 24, from the US, took to Reddit and explained that her 20-year-old sister tore a ligament in her elbow during sports activity – and decided to go for a surgery to get it fixed just one week before the wedding.

‘Obviously, I want my sister to be pain-free and finally get her surgery,’ the bride-to-be explained. ‘But, like any human being, there is a selfish side of me. I don’t want her to be the maid of honor at my wedding because she’ll be wearing a sling in all of the photos and videos from the wedding.’

The post quickly went viral and got hundreds of comments, many people called the woman a ‘bridezilla.’

‘Putting photos before the family is a horrible thing to do. They are just pictures. Pictures that’ll likely be in a box hardly ever seen. Selfish bridezilla much?’ wrote one, while a second raged: ‘The presence of a sling in your photos bothers you more than the absence of your sister would. This is some textbook a******** bridezilla behavior.

A third added: ‘YIKES. You’re getting married, not throwing a photoshoot. Try to remember what your wedding is really about, or all the panning setbacks and minor aesthetic details that don’t go right will destroy you,’ while a fourth agreed:

‘You should want her there to support you and be a part of your special day, not to be an aesthetic image to look at in pictures. Get over yourself.’

The woman also said that she had even discussed the idea to a few of her family members, who told her she was ‘horrible’ for even considering it.

‘Now, most of my family thinks that I’m a horrible person for even considering not letting my sister be part of the wedding party,’ she wrote.

‘I feel as though she could’ve waited after the wedding to get the surgery, considering she’s waited three years already or had enough time to get the surgery in advance of the wedding.’

Many people were agreed with the bride-to-be’s family and were less than impressed with the idea.

‘She was so excited about being your maid of honor that she finally decided to get the surgery that she has been putting off,’ wrote one.

‘And then now you’re too selfish to even put her in the wedding party just because of something so superficial like her wearing an arm sling. Bridezilla much?’

A second added: ‘If you go ahead with excluding her YTA, and I would consider some deep introspection around your priorities.’

Some suggested her to decorate the sling so that it would be more aesthetically pleasing.

‘Put flowers on it, make it cute or get over it,’ suggested one, while a second advised: ‘Get a sling that’ll match the color scheme.’

A third wrote: ‘Get fabric the same color as the dress she’s wearing to cover the sling so it doesn’t stand out, place her in positions so that the arm is partly behind other people, it’s not hard,’ while a fourth agreed:

‘There are lots of ways to make sure the sling isn’t a focus of the photos for you, so you don’t come off looking like a huge jerk to your family.’
