Most of the families who don’t have a disabled member will not understand the pain and happiness a child will disability can bring along with him.

Yes, it can get frustrating at times, but it also brings along the kind of joy you might have never experienced. Now, the struggling part of having a child with disabilities is their daily mode of transportation.

It is difficult to find vehicles that are equipped enough to support a wheelchair and even if you do find one, it can get heavy on your pocket. This leaves most of the parent with only one option, which is to carry their child physically.

Amidst one such parent is Christine Guerra-Candelaria, a single mom situated at Albuquerque, New Mexico. She has been struggling for the past fourteen years, carrying her child in and out of the car. Matthew weighs over seventy pounds and lifting him has been quite challenging for his mother.

But, thanks to a local Italian restaurant owner, Stephen Paternoster that she will no longer have to struggle to carry her son to the car every day.

Stephen, the owner of Scalo, decided to contribute a van for handicaps to this family. It comes with a lifting platform and straps that will ensure the safety of the child.

Just like them, another family from Stromsburg faced the same problem. Peggy Lovgren is a mother to 2 teenaged sons, Braiden and Parker. Both of them have muscular dystrophy, a disability where the lower body stops functioning in terms of movement.

But thanks to Nebraska Masonic Home situated in Plattsmouth, who helped these children by donating a handicapped-friendly van. Now it is easy for Lovgren to travel to Omaha and Lincoln to visit the doctor every month.

Luckily these families found people who were willing to help them and hopefully more people will come out and help others who are going through the same problem.
