49-year-old Stephen Robinson and his 46-year-old wife, Helen, had been married for over 30 years when they received dreadful news that Helen’s breast cancer has not only returned but also spread to her lungs.

After the mother was given just a fortnight to live, Stephen decided to plead with the public for help in raising funds to organize an early Christmas party at his wife’s hospice and pay for the funeral expenses.

“The news has just been devastating. We’ve been together since school days, married more than 30 years,” he said in an interview with Liverpool Echo.

“Helen has brought up the kids so well, and she’s the kind of person who would go out of her way to help someone.”

Despite being terminally-ill, Helen has started undergoing chemotherapy in an attempt to prolong her life enough to spend her final Christmas with the entire family.

“I’ve cried many times as we have been together since we were young teens. She is the love of my life and I just don’t know what I’m going to do,” Stephen wrote on GoFundMe.

“I’m trying my best to save what pennies I have to give Helen and are little girls to have a happy Christmas one more time with their mummy. I want them to at least smile on the special day because at the moment they cry every day and it’s heartbreaking.

“Helen has chosen the funeral details she would like and has been so brave she deserves the best, the cost is a massive £5200 and the stress of how I’m going to pay is another worry for me and I just don’t want more stress as the little ones are going to suffer more.”
