Jim was diagnosed with an incurable type of brain cancer back in 2017. Knowing that he didn’t have much time left, the father wished for nothing but to see and dance with his daughter on her wedding day.

Fortunately, the terminally ill father lived long enough not only to attend Mary’s wedding but also to dance with her from his wheelchair on December 29, 2018.

“We had always planned to use the song,” the bride said in an interview with Fox News, explaining how she and her father had been planning the dance since she was little.

“We weren’t sure how he was going to even feel that day — we just knew that we were going to do it somehow.”

Speaking of the heart-wrenching moment to AL, Tracy Roberts, Jim’s wife, added:

“It was such a good thing to happen to him. He would have cried through the whole thing even if he’d been on his feet.

“He was overwhelmed with pride and the love he feels for her. It was a great day for him, a beautiful, perfect day for all of us.”

And as fate would have it, the timing for their last dance was perfect. Only days after the wedding, on January 10, Mr. Roberts passed away. As for his daughter, she will cherish her last dance with her father for the rest of her life.
