Police have rushed to a supermarket after shoppers started a fight over toilet paper amid panic-buying caused by coronavirus outbreak.
The incident occurred at a Woolworths in Sydney, Australia, where an angry woman pulled out a knife after falling into an argument with another shopper.
According to the reports, the incident occurred around 1:30 pm whereas the customers were fighting over toilet paper.
After several police officers arrived at the scene, the woman had difficulties explaining her actions to the authorities according to what the staff told Daily Mail Australia.
“There was a fight over toilet paper – you could hear a commotion coming from down the end aisle. There was a knife pulled and the people started running around,” one of the witnesses said.
“It was all over in a few moments, security were here and the police came and talked to a woman.”
Following coronavirus spread across the globe, plenty of people have started stocking up on toilet paper amid fears that the outbreak could cause a shortage.
Meanwhile, people have allegedly also been piling up condoms in an attempt to keep their hands clean and protect themselves from coronavirus.
As one shopper from Sydney, Australia, explained, she was shocked to see all of the condoms at a local supermarket sold out.
After posting the picture on the internet and asking people for an explanation, several users quickly claimed that people have begun panic-buying condoms after seeing a social media post in which it was suggested that putting the contraceptives on fingers can protect you from catching coronavirus.
“There has been some stupid post telling people to put condoms on their fingers to press buttons etc,” someone wrote.
“Perhaps a new marketing ploy, just use your clothed elbow to avoid more rubbish being placed in the environments,” one user suggested.
