A video showing a harrowing shootout that took place on November 2017 between two Pennsylvania state police troopers and a man pulled over for speeding has been recently released by the Northampton County prosecutors.
The shooting left one of the officers in a critical condition who suffered severe wounds to his thigh, neck, and shoulder. Six weeks after using the tape for the case against the shooter Daniel Clary, the tape was made public by the Northampton County prosecutors.
Clary was pulled over by troopers Seth Kelly and Ryan Seiple who suspected him of driving under the influence of marijuana.
In the video, Clary can be seen resisting arrest as the officers try to handcuff him. The man then breaks free of their grasp, pushing one trooper to the floor, and runs towards his car, causing the other trooper to use his stun gun on Clary.
The footage then shows Clary rolling and shaking on the pavement in a state of pain as the officers try to drag him back. During the struggle, one of the officers throws a punch at Clary while he is on the floor.
However, Clary continues his resistance and can be seen trying to grab the guns of state troopers.
One trooper’s ammunition is seen being removed from the gun, while the other officer’s gun falls to the ground, due to Clary’s persistent efforts of grabbing it.
However, Clary once again breaks free of their grasp and runs towards his car’s driver seat from where he grabs his gun and starts firing at the officers. The officers also return firing and wound Clary.
In the close firefight, State Trooper Kelly suffered gunshot wounds to his thigh, shoulder, and neck, and had to apply a tourniquet to his leg wound, which ended up saving his life.
He was also clinically dead for ten minutes after he was taken to the hospital.
Clary was able to escape by driving away in his car. He drove himself to a hospital, from where he was arrested.
According to one of the prosecutors, the troopers supported making the video public so as to shed light on how dangerous and risky police work is.

Clary from Effort, Pennsylvania will be sentenced this month. On June 29, the 22-year-old was found guilty of nine of the ten charges leveled against him in under two hours of deliberations.
The defense attorney Janet Jackson argued that Clary, her client, acted in self-defense fearing for his own life after the stun gun was used on him. She also stated that she plans to appeal the verdict.
‘He accepts responsibility, but we felt we had a valid self-defense argument,’ said Jackson.
Clary’s mother also revealed that he suffers from paranoid schizophrenia and has been struggling with mental illness for a long time due to multiple head injuries. However, a mental health evaluation found Clary to be competent to stand trial.
State Trooper Kelly said he has no recollection of the gun battle after he recovered from a medically induced coma for 12 days.
He was shot once in the neck, twice in the left shoulder and once through the femoral artery in his leg.
