Serena Williams Paid Tribute To Koalas With Her Meaningful Manicure


Serena Williams’ first day at the Australian Open earned her an impressive win but what really won the fans’ hearts was the tennis celebrity’s meaningful manicure.

In the match with Russian opponent Anastasia Potapova, held in Melbourne park, the seven-times champion was seen wearing koala-themed nail polish.

The cute decoration of her nails was a tribute to Australia, especially how the country has battled fearlessly against the outrageous wildfire that has claimed the lives of 25,000 koalas.

Serena is contesting for her 24th Grand Slam singles title.

The tennis star is already famous for her meaningful and diverse manicure on the court. She even bent Wimbledon’s white-only law by decorating her nails with a bit of color.

Talking about her love for manicure back in 2010, the now 38-year-old star said she loved decorating her nails so much that she planned to get a certificate of a nail technician.

Fans with keen eyes noted her manicure during the game and soon the topic was all over social media.

“D*mn Serena is slaying on the court in more ways than one with that outfit and matching nail set,” someone wrote on social media.

Another one was curious about how the star could perform that good on the court having nails ‘so long and fabulous.’

To help raise money for the communities affected by the uncontrollable wildfires, Serena recently launched the Open’s Rally for Relief match, in which she invited other tennis stars including Rafael Nadal, Caroline Wozniacki, Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Serena played Fast Four doubles in the fundraising match and helped bag in as much as $5 million for the fire-affected people.

Before that, the former No. 1 tennis star shared a post on Instagram telling that she was heartbroken because of the damage caused by the violent bushfire and asked her fans to be generous in helping the charities working for bushfire relief.
