A 67-year-old woman who calls herself ‘lady ninja’ managed to protect her wheelchair-bound neighbor from a home intruder without any assistance.
Despite standing at 4’11’’ and weighing just 100 pounds, Lorenza Marrujo from Fontana, California, reportedly stopped an intruder who forced his way inside her apartment at a senior living complex.
According to the authorities, Marrujo first confronted the home intruder, who was later identified as 59-year-old Donald Robert Prestwood, when the man broke into her apartment.
As the senior explained in an interview with the San Bernardino Sun, she warned Prestwood, who also lives at the complex, to back off after picking up her baseball bat.
While the 67-year-old, who is living on the third floor of the complex, managed to scare the intruder away, that didn’t stop the man from breaking into another apartment located on the first floor.
After Prestwood allegedly forced his way into the home of 81-year-old wheelchair-bound Elizabeth McCray, Marrujo knew she had to act to save her dear friend and neighbor.
Once she reached her neighbor’s apartment, Marrujo, who is a jiu-jitsu black belt holder, charged the intruder and toppled him to the ground before subduing him.
“I had to bend his fingers back … to get him off her. He was screaming because that’s one of my techniques, the bent fingers. Then I went ‘boom’ with my elbow twice in his sternum,” the lady ninja, who practiced martial arts for nearly three decades, told the San Bernardino Sun.
In an interview with KCAL-TV, the brave senior added: “I squeezed myself between her and him. I put [her] on the side, and I jumped on him and I was punching him and everything, and I had the cane against his throat.”
While the 67-year-old admitted she didn’t want to kill the man, she made sure to immobilize him long enough for cops to arrive and arrest him.
“He lifted up and tried to twist my hand, but at the same time, I twisted his and turned it around real fast and he was saying, ‘you’re hurting me, you’re hurting me.
’ And I said, ‘I don’t care.
I don’t care what happens to you. You had no right to hurt an elderly person,’” Marrujo added.Following the incident, Prestwood was arrested and booked into West Valley Detention Center. As for McCray, she was treated for the injuries caused by the intruder and is expected to fully recover.
