Senior Couple Died Just Hours Apart After Hospital Staff Moved Their Beds Together


A senior couple who were married for over seven decades passed away just hours apart after kind hospital staff put their beds together to allow the couple to spend their final moments together.

94-year-old Wilford Kepler and his 92-year-old wife, Mary, from Wisconsin, tied the knot 73 years ago after World War II and plenty of exchanged love letters.

Since then, the couple remained side-by-side whereas the Froedtert Hospital saw their wishes come true as they moved their beds together so that they could spend their final moments in each other’s presence according to Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

“Their beds were together at Froedtert and they were able to hold hands during their last day. Mary commented before her death that she was being cared for by Angels,” the couple’s tear-jerking obituary read.

According to the reports, both Mary and Wilford tested positive for COVID-19. Only the wife, however, died from the disease, whereas Wilford succumbed to the traumatic head injury he sustained on Easter.

As the couple’s granddaughter, Natalie Lameka, explained, her grandparents “were aware of what was going on, and they were at peace with it.”

Natalie and her brother, Spencer, paid their final goodbye to the loving couple just moments before they passed away.

Speaking of Wilford and Mary was also the couple’s son, Michael, who praised his parents for taking good “care of their children” and providing them with a good life and education.

“They did the things that most people would want to do for their children and for their families,” he said.
