Scientists Have Found A Way To Turn Carbon Dioxide Back into Coal

For years and years scientists have been working to find a method to store CO2 in the right form and this time it looks like they have something solid in their hands, I mean literally solid.

Scientists have found out a way through which they can transform CO2 in solid form from the gas form. The scientists were able to turn Carbon Dioxide back into coal first time ever in an experiment and this can result in cleaner air.

According to this new discovery, a newly found technique can efficiently turn Carbon Dioxide into a solid form of coal from its gaseous version.

Australian RMIT University’s research team developed this new technique and states that the same can prove to be an alternative pathway that can safely and permanently remove carbon dioxide, the greenhouse gas from our atmosphere.

The current technology scientists are using to elevate carbon dioxide is a bit different from what they have discovered now. The present technique compresses CO2 to turn it into the liquid form from where they inject the same into the surface of the earth as a method of carbon capture and storage.

But the same process has been hampered by some of engineering challenges because it had become a serious issue of economic viability and concerns for the environment after there had been leaks in the storage sites.

Head of the research, Dr. Torben Daeneke told that converting Carbon Dioxide into the solid form will give us a way better method to be able to store Carbon Dioxide and take it out of the atmosphere.

He said, “Yes, there is no way that we can literally turn back time but there is a possibility that we can turn at least some amount of it back into coal.”
