As we all know that mars is not a planet which is not habitable for the humans as it is way too cold to tolerate.
According to the scientists, it is crucial to find solutions and warm things a little bit on the planet as eventually, humanity would like to be on that planet.
Scientists have created a different type of material, which is called silica aerogel to make the surface friendly for plants and other things. The blanket is to test if the living can be okay on the sheet.
The research scientist at NASA’s, Laura Kerber, said that it is helpful to think that there are ways to create changes on the planet till now.
The silica blankets are small in the type of technology that is currently available. Ironically, humans have proved to warm up the planet in their destructive ways and thanks to the greenhouse effect.
The scientists say that the blankets are an excellent source to warm up things on the planet, but it is highly impossible to cover the entire planet with that.
So the scientists have shifted their focus to warming up only little surfaces of the planet and make it warmer. The silica aerogel blanket an induce greenhouse effect as the material is filled with air by volume and is a network of silicon dioxide.
It can also transmit some light which the planet can successfully use for photosynthesis.
The scientists have made a blanket successfully for the planet, and one researcher who wasn’t involved in this whole experiment said that it an exciting and smart idea.
Even if right now the scientists are thinking of making the planet habitable for humanity there are still a lot of things to think about and work on.
