Stacy Bailey who lives in Arlington and teaches at the Charlotte Anderson Elementary School is receiving $100,000 from the MISD after she filed a case against discrimination against her sexuality.
The teacher, who spends half of her day with her students, for sure takes them as a huge part of her life and just wanted to share the happiest news with her students.
She was getting married and was extremely excited about the same and so she showed the picture of her fiancé to her elementary class.
Soon the school announced that Stacy was discussing her sexual orientation with her students of elementary level. The school said that they had received several complainants from parents.
Stacy had shown a picture to the students where she and her fiancé were dressed as Nemo and Dory and there was certainly nothing sexual about it.
She said “when a teacher shares that she is pregnant with a baby, is she talking about her sexual orientation with her husband to the class? No, she is just sharing the massively great news of her life with her students.”
Under the rules of settlement, her suspension would be withdrawn but the school district and she will continue her job. As compensation, she will be receiving $100,000 for the same.
Her wife and she have decided to donate $10,000 to the school for the LGBTQ community students at the school while Jason has decided to donate the same amount to the Human Rights Campaign.
After she was suspended for 8 months, she rejoined in a high school as a teacher.
