School of Rock star Kevin Clark has passed away at the age of 32 after he was struck by a car on Wednesday morning.
Best known for playing Freddy Jones in the 2003 film, the 32-year-old was riding his bicycle in Chicago when he was hit by a Hyundai Sonata after he ran a red light.
According to reports, he was struck by a 20-year-old woman’s vehicle heading south on Western Avenue.
The woman has been issued with citations and hasn’t been arrested.
Clark’s grieving mother Allison Clark said: “He told his bandmates just yesterday: ‘You know, this is finally the life I want to live. And we’re going to make it. You’re my musical family — my family — and we’re all going to make it.’”
His sister said that he was on his way home when the incident happened.
The drummer was rushed to a hospital but was pronounced dead at 2:04 pm, according to a report from the Cook County Medical Examiner.
Paramedics found Clark at Logan Boulevard and rushed him to Illinois Masonic Medical Center where he passed away.
Heartbroken Jack Black was one of the first to pay tribute to the child star.
Sharing photos of them together on Instagram, he wrote: “Devastating news. Kevin is gone. Way too soon. Beautiful soul. So many great memories. Heartbroken.
“Sending love to his family and the whole School of Rock community.”
Fellow costar Miranda Cosgrove, who played Summer Hathaway in the film, wrote: “Stunned and saddened by this news today. The world lost an amazing soul.
“I’ll always remember your spirit and how kind you were to me. I’ll never forget all the memories. You’ll always be missed Kevin.”
Speaking to the Chicago Sun Times, mother Allison said: “He loved music. He’s just a raw talent. He’s got a heart of gold.”
