An Ohio mother is up in arms after her two daughters were expelled from their private Christian school because she “committed adultery.”

Thirty-year-old Summer Grant told WYKC that her daughters (Summara, 10, in fourth grade and Summaia, 7, in second grade) have been students at the Chapel Hill Christian Schools for years.

The institution offers preschool to sixth-grade classes with two campuses located in Cuyahoga Falls and Springfield Township.

Grant said that her daughters were dismissed from the Cuyahoga Falls campus last Friday with only 30 days remaining in the school year.

The reason: Grant was supposedly “living in sin.”

“He said it was many reasons and the main one was because I was not married and my children had different fathers,” Grant explained.

Grant recorded the conversation she had with administrative pastor John Wilson, who claimed that she was violating the school’s covenant by having children with different fathers and living with a man she was not married to.

“There’s 10 commandments and committing adultery is not part of that,” Pastor Wilson could be heard saying in the recording. “It’s not that they should not go to the school it’s that they can’t go to the school.”

Grant says her children are great students, pointing out the many accolades and certificates they had gotten from the school.

None of them have been in trouble, save for a misunderstanding with a bus driver one of her daughters had last week.

The mother explained that the driver wanted her child to sit in front because he said she wasn’t listening. But her daughter said she had been talking to a friend at the time and hadn’t heard the driver.

Next day, the Akron resident tried to resolve the situation with the driver but he became rude. He called the cops but no one was arrested.

But Wilson had said the incident had little to do with the school’s decision. “It’s not right,” she declared.

This was not the first time Wilson and Grant have butted heads about her private home life. At a July parent conference, Wilson had asked why her kids had three different fathers.

Wilson had also given Grant eight recommendations on how to improve her life.

“As Christian, you are not supposed to judge,” she said. “You shouldn’t have affected these kids education over that.”

Wilson could be heard saying that having kids by the same man is a “strong recommendation” though not a requirement. But Grant claims she isn’t the only parent who isn’t married with kids so she doesn’t understand why her children were apparently singled out.

Pastor Wilson along with Jeff Summer, the Board of Education Chairman for the schools, refused to go on camera but jointly released a statement claim that parents had signed a “written agreement to conduct themselves in accordance with expressed guidelines of conducts” with the aim of ensuring the “physical safety of our students.”

The agreement is “meant to reflect a common commitment to the cause of Christ, foster the ‘Spirit of unity through the bond of peace,’ and continue to extend the redemptive work of Christ in individual lives and the corporate life of God’s School.”

While refusing to go into specifics, Wilson emphasized that “dismissal was necessary in order to protect the safety of our school children and their families.”

But Grant asserts that she had never signed any such agreement.

Regardless, she is distraught that with only 30 days left in the school year it’s well nigh impossible to transfer her daughters to a public school without losing their scholarships.

Grant hopes the school changes its mind for the sake of the education of the two girls.

“They don’t have a school,” she added. “They don’t have anywhere to go to school right now. I don’t know what to do.”

The mother aired her grievances on Facebook and defended her past, writing that the “situation has really put” her in a “bind mentally” even after being a “really good mother.”

“I especially don’t want my kids to be judged for my actions,” she wrote in the Friday post.

She continued: “I understand I’m not married and fornication would be what I committed not adultery! However, I’ve been the same unmarried women with children who have different fathers since the day he first accepted me n my children and the money for them to attend and that’s where he’s wrong at. I’m sorry I didn’t get married in the time frame he thought I should of but I wanted to bad! But that’s just not what was for me at the time.”

She had to defend her relationship with one of her daughter’s fathers in a later post after people gave attention to him to cast her in a negative light.
