Several students and teachers got injured after a ceiling collapsed on the second floor of Rosemead Preparatory School and Nursery in Dulwich, South London, early in the morning.
According to a source, 3 fire engines and 20 firefighters rushed to the preparatory school in London just after they were informed about the sudden collapse. Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service helped many students get out of the building and transferred them to the hospital.
Multiple fire crews from West Norwood and Brixton fire stations reached the school as well. The incident took place at 9:22 am and by 11:50 am, the incident was over for the paramedics and firefighters.
Rosemead Preparatory School and Nursery was founded in 1936. A drama school currently uses the building.
Many stars, including Joan Plowright, Keith Michell, Prunella Scales who is known for playing Sybil Fawlty in the BBC comedy Fawlty Towers, Alan Dobie and Jerome Willis, have been a part of the drama school run by old Vincin.
Later the building was rebuilt in 1865, and in 1974 the school moved into it after old Vincin decided to sell it to some parents willing to buy it.
The Labour MP for Dulwich and West Norwood proclaimed after the collapse that he is concerned to know about the tragic incident and is grateful to all the emergency services who attended everything that happened in the incident.
Many resources reached the scene, including advanced paramedics, a command support vehicle, a hazardous area response team, emergency planning resilience officers, medics in cars, ambulance crews and incident response officers. Extensive road closures were observed after the incident occurred.
