An elementary school art teacher has been dubbed a “national treasure” after she was seen modeling in a one-of-a-kind dress made of her students’ drawings.
The 46-year-old teacher from Texas, Rebecca Bonner, became an online celebrity after her 20-year-old daughter, Charlece Lake, shared a picture of her posing in the colorful dress on Twitter.
“My mom is the cutest art teacher ever!” Charlece proudly wrote of her mother who teaches at Mcauliffe Elementary School in Highland Village.
“She made a dress and had every one of her students draw one thing on the dress for her to wear. This was her at her student’s art show tonight. I’M SOBBING.”
As the daughter explained, her mother got the cream dress from Amazon and imprinted the drawings of various colors on it later.
The Texas teacher, who runs her own Twitter account named McAuliffe Art Room, proudly wore the unique dress to her students’ art show.
“Best night ever! I love displaying all the artwork for the District Art Show and having my daughter home from college and attend the show was the BEST!” the mother tweeted after the event.
Since then, Charlece’s photos went viral and people couldn’t help but praise the teacher for her creative idea and her dedication to her students.
“That’s so inspiring! Like you can tell she loves what she’s doing and cares about her students! Wow!” one person commented.
“Your mom is a national treasure and must be protected at all costs,” another one added. “My art teacher is why I fell in love with the arts. Your mom is doing wonderful, I hope she knows how amazing she truly is.”
“Your mom is the type of teacher that changes a child’s life & they NEVER forget the positive that was poured into them,” the third one expressed.
