Madeline Mclntire of Texas was nine months pregnant when she suddenly lost control of her car. Her vehicle crashed into a concrete barrier.
The expecting mom was begging for help. She hoped that someone would call 911, but after many cars passed by the scene, no one came to help her. Then, she noticed a woman had stopped her vehicle and got out to provide assistance.
But before the stranger could help Madeline, she was hit and killed by another car. Somehow, she had managed to call 911 before she was struck. The single phone call she made saved Madeline and her baby’s lives.
After the incident, Madeline has been searching for the woman’s family. Julia Zaman lost her life trying to save her.
Madeline found out that the woman was a wife and a mother. After a year of searching, she was able to track down Julia’s husband, Nadeem Zaman.
In January 2018, Madeline reached out t Nadeem, and they met for the first time.
“When they put me in the ambulance, I couldn’t stop asking about her,” Madeline told Nadeem. “I just thought you deserved to know who the person was in the vehicle that your wife helped.”
Baby Walter, the child that Julia also saved, came along to meet Nadeem.
“She was the only person that stopped for me,” Madeline expressed. “Out of dozens and dozens of cars that went by — no one else stopped, and she did… she called the police.”
“You always think when the person goes into the next life, how will they be remembered? And people talking about it is one thing, but here is flesh and blood,” said Nadeem. “There is evidence that Julia did something amazing.”
Nadeem hopes that this incident does not discourage people from helping when they see a crash. He also mentioned that his wife stopped many times to help others before this tragedy. Because of Julia’s efforts, pregnant mom and her unborn child survived.
