Ruth Bader Ginsburg is Working Out NOW and You’ve Got No Excuse

Perhaps other than being America’s most liberal-minded and most well-known Supreme Court justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, incumbent since the Clinton presidency, is probably the most health-adherent as well.

So much so that the Supreme Court and her long-time physical trainer sought all ends to provide her with the gym experience while not going against the D.C. health quarantine guidelines.

The beans were spilled on the octogenarian’s secrets to longevity when her personal trainer Bryant Johnson came on the news outlet Law360 on Tuesday.

He is alleged to have said, “Everybody’s been shut down. The only reason why I didn’t shut the justice down is because, hey, she ain’t having it.”

Surely a sign of great integrity and a stringent care to one’s health. But her decisions and obstinate will may raise some eyebrows.

It would be no wonder for a provision, some room for criticism since Washington D.C. authorities have declared a stay-at-home order and closed all public gyms without exceptions. And all of us staying cooped up in our houses.

Some may say even that she is expanding her privileges too much and being selfish, outgrowing her status as a civil servant in nature. Negative feedback might ensue from the personal trainer’s statements.

The representative spokeswoman for the highest judicial branch of the nation Kathy Arberg has since made several points very clear, starting with the fact that of all people, Justice Ginsberg wouldn’t be the one to defy the regulations:

“At Justice Ginsburg’s request, the Court has set aside the limited private space next to its health facility for Justice Ginsburg to exercise. Her doctors share her view that the training sessions are essential to her well-being.”

She also elaborated in the same CNN interview that:

“The space is being used exclusively by the justice. No other justices are using the space, and the employee gym is closed to all users. ”

This is a great rebuff to all the hasty critics out there, since RBG stands for something larger than herself: she protects the integrity of the American court and her illness and injuries directly threatens the institution itself.

So in being very strict about her lifestyle amidst the quarantine wreaking havoc across the country, it is up to her to survive and survive healthily, lest the whole institution be thrown into more jeopardy than it is already dreadfully being dragged into.

Her trainer Johnson has confided in his subsequent interviews as well that her will, along with her bodily integrity, is stronger than ever:

“Her choice is, she doesn’t make excuses not to do it. So we find ways to do it.” Surely, words that all of us in confinement should find some motivations in.
