Although Russia became the first nation to register an official vaccine for Covid-19, many have expressed great skepticism over its efficacy and safety.
Among all the doubts, Russia’s top medical personnel resigned from the Russian Health Department’s ethics council.
As the ethics council was to approve the usage of Sputnik V, the alleged vaccine, Dr. Chuchalin harshly criticized his fellow scientists for their negligence and compromising their integrity. He was the only voice who tried to stop the vaccine based on safety concerns.
Chuchalin specified two individuals who led the development of the vaccine as the culprits who put away their integrity. The two individuals are Alexander Gintsburg and Sergey Borisevich, who is the chief virologist for the Russian Army.
It is being reported that Dr. Chuchalin confronted those two individuals, arguing that they knew as well as he does that the so called vaccine has not passed the safety bars in either Russia or any other nation. The good doctor pled that the foremost objective of doctors should be to do no harm.
In an interview he had with a Russian journal, Chuchalin said that the most important and vital step in testing out drugs or medicines is how safe it is for humans. He added that Sputnik V has not been properly tested on humans.
The statements carry great weight because Chuchalin is one of the most revered medical professionals in Russia. He created the an official institute that specialized in pulmonology, and is currently in charge of one of the most prestigious medical schools in Russia.
Thus, when Chuchalin says the long-term effects of this alleged vaccine has not been tested at all, it should be enough to give everyone a pause before vaccinating themselves with Sputnik V.
Chuchalin is not the only Russian expert who has spoken against the vaccine. Virologist and Professor Alexander Chepurnov warned that every antibodies function in a different way, and that the creators have not produced scientific literature on the specifics of this vaccine.
However, the politicians from Vladimir Putin down have assured the public that the vaccine is indeed safe. One argued that the attacks on the vaccine are an coordinated effort from the outside world to diminish the Russian achievement.
