Tom Ford’s husband, Richard Buckley, has passed away at the age of 72 at their home in Los Angeles.
Designer Stella McCartney, a godmother to the couple’s son, took to Instagram and shared a heartfelt tribute.
“To my dear friend Tom and my beautiful godson Jack… It is with the deepest sadness that I speak of the stunning Richard’s passing,” she wrote.
“To call Richard a dear and beloved friend is a privilege, and to know the huge hole left in your lives fills me with deep, deep sadness. He was so loved, so respected and so madly and passionately dedicated to you, Tom and Jack, that his life was fully complete,” McCartney continued.
“What a gentle man; grace and charm filled the room when he was in it. His intellect and passion for knowledge always blew me away, and the sparkle in his eyes dove so deep into your heart each time you were blessed enough to feel it.”
The grieving family issued a heartbreaking statement on Buckley’s passing on Sunday night.
It read: “It is with great sadness that Tom Ford announces the death of his beloved husband of 35 years, Richard Buckley.
“Richard passed away peacefully at their home in Los Angeles last night with Tom and their son Jack by his side. He died of natural causes after a long illness.”
It was in 1986 when Ford – who is worth $500 million – met Buckley at a New York fashion show. They were partners for more than thirty years and officially tied the knot in 2014 after same-gender marriage was finally legalized in the country.
They share an 8-year-old son, Alexander John ‘Jack’ Buckley Ford.
