After 83-year-old Jackie White, one of the pensioners at the village, collapsed, Brooks allegedly remained by her side as she was being loaded into an ambulance that rushed her to Northampton General Hospital.

Just minutes after the paramedics took off, however, Brooks entered White’s room and started going through her private things – an act that was documented by a hidden camera.

In the upsetting footage taken while the elderly woman was fighting for her life, the manager is seen rummaging through White’s stuff and stealing cash.

Just a few hours after the disgraceful act, the 83-year-old passed away. As Martin, one of her sons, explained, he and his brother Kevin decided to install a camera in their mother’s room to keep an eye on her following her dementia diagnosis.

While the brothers only reviewed the footage in order to see how their mother had fallen, they were shocked to come across the dishonest manager in the act of stealing.

With no time to grieve, the brothers were forced to alert the police and take the matter to court.

“It is hard to describe the absolute shock and horror I felt when I saw Adam calmly burglarizing my mother’s flat less than two hours after he had watched her being carried out of it by the ambulance crew,” Martin’s victim statement read.

“My sister did not believe me when I said what I was seeing. The last two hours of my mother’s life were spent with the family in absolute shock as we watched the video and tried to make sense of what we had seen rather than us quietly saying goodbye to her.

“We were told by the medical staff that one of the last things to go is hearing and I pray and worry still whether my mother was aware of what was happening in that room at the end.

“We all had a great deal of difficulty coming to terms with the fact that someone who was considered a friend could take advantage of us all in the cool, calm and collected manner that showed on the CCTV. It did not appear to us that he was at all uncomfortable with what he was doing.”

Following the theft, Brooks has been found guilty of stealing from the dying pensioner and sentenced to 27 months in prison.
