The ‘Karen’ outfits are set to be the most popular Halloween costumes this year, according to
Vice.
This year, hundreds of videos showing women calling the police on people of color and complaining at store employees over face masks have gone viral on social media.
LA-based artist Jason Adcock sells custom-made Karen masks for $180.
“The scariest thing you can be on Halloween!!!! Full head latex mask with hair. Sculpted, molded, cast, and painted,” the product description reads.
The facemasks show an angry woman’s face with red eyes, blotchy skin, and yellowish teeth.
In an interview with Vice, Adcock said: “I was quarantining at home and wanted to make a new mask. I just started sculpting, and out came Karen.
“I’ve spent most of my life working retail in the cosmetics industry, so I have seen countless Karens in their natural habitat.”
Adcock revealed that he has received hate messages over his controversial products.
“I have gotten a few death threats, a lot of people saying it’s racist, or that I should be disgusted with myself,” he said.
“But if the one thing you’re pressed up about right now is a rubber Halloween mask of an angry lady, you need to wake up!”
Adock said each mask takes a few weeks to finish, so people who want to grab one should place an order before Halloween!
One retailer is also selling ‘I Want To Speak To The Manager’ sweatshirt on Amazon while others are selling coronavirus costumes.
One internet user commented: “Pure is the meaning of Karen ……so twisted and disrespectful the world has become.”
Another wrote: “This is clearly intended to make any white womans complaint dismissed. It is minimizing all white women.”
A third added: “Where can I buy a Felicia mask?”
